Spring shopping

Spring shopping

With the new season finally arriving I'm browsing different stores almost everyday to find perfect Spring pieces to add to my wardrobe. Needless to say, I still haven't managed to buy the lottery ticket with the winning numbers, so don't confuse this post with what's actually in my shopping cart. More like on my neverending "save for later" list...

Since it's better to suffer together than alone, I'm sharing my favorite finds with you! What are you drooling over?

#DropThePlus

(image via Ajay Rochester Twitter)

So I've noticed the #droptheplus hashtag is popping up everywhere. While investigating it further I stumbled upon the news that Australian model,  Steffania Ferrario, wants to see the label "plus size model" eliminated. She posted this picture to her Instagram and joins former The Biggest Loser Australia host Ajay Rochester to support the #droptheplus movement. She feels labeling women like herself as "plus size" could be damaging towards the minds of younger girls that can struggle with insecurity.

Spring transition

It's finally time for Spring coats again! And I can already predict that this one will be worn a lot. It's a classic type of coat, great for workwear but also cute with more casual looks. When wearing it in a casual way, it gives an instant upgrade to the rest of the outfit, because of the classy look, fabric and pattern.  I paired it with this sweet, cream romantic lace top for a "transitioning to Spring" look.

JUNAROSE jeans guide

Whatever your body type, finding the perfect jeans can be a real challenge. What type of jeans suit you best? Are you a skinny, flared or bootcut kind of girl? This time I'm bringing you JUNAROSE'S jeans guide, to help you find the perfect pair!

Here's what JUNAROSE designer Nanna Dahl Knudsen had to say about their jeans:

"The technical details of designing a pair of jeans are always important. Denim is an excellent fabric, but when making a pair of jeans for a plus-size girl, the technical aspects are even more important. This is why we test everything we make. We need to know about the fit, but we also need to know how the seams will work when the jeans are worn. Just one example is that the length of the crotch in a pair of jeans for a plus-size woman is more complicated to figure out, since the jeans must not slide down at the back when she sits down. We want to make our customers even more confident and make them feel even better when they wear JUNAROSE, so every little detail is carefully considered."

Bomb Diggity

Something I started doing more lately, is combining skirts with sneakers. Not a new concept, but I like the instant sporty look it gives. And best of all, painless feet all day! Don't get me wrong, I love my heels though.

Because the sun is coming out more and more I could finally rock my new bomber jacket, which I absolutely love. Another advantage, longer periods of daylight! I wore this to work yesterday and was able to snap these pics after work. Hurray, the new season is definitely on it's way!! I read that daylight saving time has already started in the US, we still have 17 days to go for that, so I will cherish these last few days with an extra hour of sleep :)

Season mixing

I'm really in betweens seasons right now. Like I mentioned before, Spring is starting to show itself by lots of sunshine. Unfortunately, these bright sunny days are still accompanied by rough winds and storms. So my outfit does the same; the dress has more of a Spring feel, but the coat shows that Winter is still here. Let's hope it will change soon!

By the way, I absolutely love the lace-like details on this dress, especially the one in the back!

Purr, purr, purr

I could live in leopards prints forever, and most of you already know that :). It was such a nice surprise that Zizzi's Henriette brought this jacket with her as a gift during one of her visits to the Netherlands. She knows exactly what I like (and what I don't)! Apart from animal prints, pinks, glitters and fluff, I never really considered that I really have my own signature style (weird, I know), until I posted a picture of a dress on my Facebook page and people commented "This is so Dionne". Haha. It's nice to see you all know me so well :)

Anyhoo, it's the first Monday of March, and that means Spring is around the corner! Dutch weather is still shifting, mostly with sunny days along with rough winds and storms. I know it's better than New York right now and I'm guessing some of you are really sick and tired of seeing snow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Another note, I would like to thank and welcome all new followers, good to have you here! And to my longtime followers, thank you for sticking by me and for your support!

Enjoy your week, xoxo
