2012 --> 2013

Can you believe it? The year 2012 has come to an end already. To me a year with ups and downs, luckily mostly ups, but I've also lost loved ones. Coming year will be a new, fresh, start, filled with exciting things, I'm sure of it! It's always been a tradition in my family to pray together before the New Year's here, and today I wanted to say a litlle prayer:

Dear Lord,

Thank You for Your blessings over our lives this past year. Thank You for Your love, mercy
and grace. Thank You for Your Son. Thank You for always providing in our every needs.Thank You for my wonderful husband and beautiful daughter. Thank You for my parents, siblings and the rest of our family. Thank You for our health and last but not least, thank You for all the people supporting and reading this blog.  Bless them, may they all be safe and well. Please keep us all safe during our New Year's celebrations and please continue to bless us this forthcoming year.
In Jesus name, Amen.

Stay safe everyone, enjoy the celebrations and see you in 2013!!!

OOTD: Sheer dots

Hey everyone, hope all of you enjoyed the holidays, I sure did! I'm just quickly posting one of the outfits I wore in these past days, for a lovely Christmas dinner at my father in law's. The weather was excellent for me to wear my new favorite coat again, I predict that this won't be the last time you'll see it! I'm looking forward to New Years Eve now, still have to figure out what to wear...

What will you guys be wearing for NYE? Do tell, maybe I'll get inspired! :)

Have a lovely day,
xoxo

OOTD: Peplum on Peplum

Yoooooooooooooooooo!!! It's been a while!! I finally look like myself, the swelling in my cheek is completely gone, only to have to go through the same procedure on the other side again tomorrow :(. I couldn't stay away for a whole month without posting, hence this post. I hope I won't suffer from the "Kanye Cheek syndrome" this time as much as I did last time so I can at least look decent during the holidays... Well, we'll just wait and see... Anyway...

I usually don't like it getting this cold outside but it finally gave me a chance to wear this beautiful faux fur peplum coat from Asos Curve. I have to say that if you're thinking of buying this coat, you can probably go one size down. I first ordered it in a UK20 (US16) but had to exchange it for a UK18 (US14) cause it was too big. I paired it with another fave of mine, this beautiful peplum top. It surprised me so much cause the material is so thick and warm, and the pictures on the website, as well as in this post, just don't do it justice. Add my all time favorite leggings, and super cute pumps and I'm ready to go to church!

Have a great Sunday!!!

Minimize my Fashion: Twins for a day

While writing this post, I'm "recovering" from my visit to the oral surgeon. I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled, and although the procedure was not so bad at all, I'm in quite a bit of pain right now (ouch!). Anyway, yesterday my mini me Jaelynn and I were dressed up in very similar styles and I thought it would be fun to snap some shots for you, since I don't showcase her around on the blog that much. It's so much fun to dress my little girl because she absolutely loves it (yay me!) and with everything new I buy or wear for her she says "Wow! So pretty!".

Just thinking about it already relieves a bit of the pain I'm in right now.. :)

Enjoy your day lovelies!

OOTD: Black 'n Blue

Hope everyone in the US had a great Thanksgiving! Since Thanksgiving is not celebrated here it was just an ordinary Thursday for me. I'm just looking forward to Christmas, to decorate my house and to celebrate with my family. I still have a lot of Christmas shopping to do, but I always do that a few days before. How about you, did you already start your holiday shopping?

OOTD: Beautiful Fall

Even though Fall is not my favorite season, I do love the colors it brings. Yellow, orange, red, it all looks so warm and cozy. Today was a perfect Fall day, with lots of sunshine and a nice scenery. I took this beautiful day as an opportunity to wear my new military studded jacket from Asos Curve, which I absolutely love. I ordered it as soon as I saw it online! Glad I did, cause it sold out real quick! For those that missed out, I did read on their Facebook page that although this one probably won't be restocked, they will have similar styles coming soon. And always keep an eye out cause sometimes a few (I guess returned) pop back in stock! I'm also very pleased with my new shoes! I was really lusting over the Isabel Marant Bekket sneaker but coincidentally found these great look-a-likes instead while browsing shops in the city. They are really comfortable and are also real leather and suede, and that for 79,95 instead of 395! I just couldn't pass up on this deal.

Enjoy your day lovelies,
xoxo

OOTD: Animal printed

It's been a while since my last outfit posts, forgive me. I have to find another way to make outfit pictures since it's already dark by the time I'm off work and it's raining a lot too (and I'm not a big fan of shooting pics inside). Anyway, major welcome to all new followers on the blog and 'likers' on Facebook, it's much appreciated! If you happen to find the time, please vote for me for the "Navabi Curvy Blog Award 2012", I'm #3 on the list. I'm so excited for this competition! Off course I hope I win but to be real honest, I'm enjoying it anyway, it made me find a lot of new blogs to follow and read, which is fun too! To all contenders, best of luck!

Enjoy your day everyone,

Let's get personal... Liebster Award

I was nominated for my first award, the Liebster award! Special thanks to Ms. Ann Mowet of Ohh let me see!  for nominating me!

3. My other obsession is everything that has to do with ancient Egypt, I watch every documentary on the subject and would love to go there myself someday.
4. In my life I've wanted to be a: lawyer, judge, surgeon, pathologist, psychologist, laboratory assistant, Egyptologist, fashion designer and I'm none of them... What am I doing wrong?

I was inspired by other fabulous plus size bloggers that displayed exactly how I feel about fashion, this made me create my own blog., I want to inspire others too.

2. What's your favorite Holiday, and why?
Christmas. Since that's also my aunts birthday, we always celebrate with the whole family, it's so warm and fun. Besides that, it's also the day we remember our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ coming to this earth.

That's hard, there are so many songs I love. I think I'd have to go with Joe - Good Girls. Brings back memories.

4. What's the most outrageous thing you have ever done?
I have absolutely no idea. I guess I'm kind of boring...

No there's not.

7. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
I would love to say I'd buy a house first, but the first thing that comes to mind is the 3.1 Philip Lim Pashli Satchel, and my mile long "Save list" from Asos, lol. Then, a house :)

8. What is your worst fear?
Losing all my loved ones (as I get older).

9. What is your favorite candy?

Coat crazy!

As the weather clearly shows, Fall is really here, and every Fall the question rises: what coat this year?
I've been browsing my favorite online stores and it's really hard to choose! I've made a small selection and as  you can see I still have a weakness for everything with a leather sleeve *sigh. Can't help myself!

What kind of coat will you be rocking this Fall? If you have great finds I missed, do share!

OOTD: A night at the movies

I'm so proud of my friend, Imanuelle, who's starring in her first Dutch movie! It premiered last Wednesday in 12 different cities throughout the country and it's already a major hit! It's based on a bestselling book about a Jewish boy from a "good" neighborhood who's suddenly obsessed with black women and their voluptuous bodies, much to the dismay of his parents. It's a comedy and I really had a good laugh. I sincerely hope this is only the beginning for her, she did such a great job!

I also went to visit one of the premieres and this is what I wore.

OOTD: Ruffed up

There are many ways to wear a cute lace dress like this one but I chose to "ruff it up" a little by adding this absolutely great Forever 21+ jacket (which the ever sweet Marquita sent me from the US) and ankle boots. Because I love wearing my Summer clothes through Fall and Winter too, I like giving them a more "edgier" look for the colder seasons.

Do you often wear your Summer faves throughout Fall and Winter too? How do you make them weather proof? Let me know!

So below are three different outfits with the same key item. So my total of outfits paired with them comes to 5 now, and still the possiblities are endless... :)

OOTD: Dressy & Casual in the mix

When I read this Asos Curve Facebook post on this top I was somewhat surprised. It seems that it hasn't been selling that well and they wanted to know why. Although I can relate to the comments others made in regards to why they didn't like this top, I absolutely love it. It gives me a ballerina feeling :)

I was inspired to dress this top down with some distressed jeans, but to keep it classy at the same time by adding the heels and the necklace. I've seen it worn this way by Alicia of Cheetah is the New Black and I loved it so much I just had to try it for myself.

What do you guys think? Can dressy and casual be mixed together?

OOTD: Graduation outfit

Once every year I have to work on a Saturday, for our official graduation ceremony and every year, it's so much fun. Students that I've seen coming in are leaving again and are starting a new journey in their lives. Today's post features the outfit I wore to the ceremony, this Asos Curve dress which I absolutely love (I say that about every Asos Curve item I own, lol).

Enjoy your Sunday!

OOTD: Inseparable

Ok, let me start off by saying I seriously live in these leggings... They are so comfy, and I really can't imagine why I wanted to send them back at first. Glad I didn't! For the ones that were too late the first time, they're back in stock! Maybe I should get another pair for when this one is no longer wearable..

So tomorrow is my first day of school and I'm kind of nervous. I've mentioned (quickly) in an earlier post that I will be a student as of September but didn't tell you more. I will be doing a Bachelor's in Human Resource Management as a part-time study, which will take me 4(!) years to complete. I know it's going to be hard since I also have a job and a family but I'm really planning to make it work. That doesn't mean I won't have insecurities and doubts from time to time but with the love and support from my family I'll do the best I can. I also believe that God will guide and help me during the hard (and easier) times. Wish me luck!

Phew! By my absence this week you can really tell that work has started again! :) I can act all tough and say that I really don't feel like being there but to be real honest, I kinda missed my job and my colleagues (just a tiny tiny bit!). And, since I work in education, I only have so many weeks to count down before the Autumn break starts ^_^

Noah's Ark (and quick OOTD)

I guess I don't talk about it much on the blog, but I'm a Christian (and proud to be :)). Yesterday we went to visit "Noah's Ark", a real full-size replica of the Ark that Noah built, commissioned by God. Why was this replica built? (Quote from the website:) "It was built by Johan Huibers, a contractor from a small village in the province of North Holland. In 1992, he dreamt that waves from the ocean washed over the Netherlands during a storm. The dream was followed by even more signs, meaning he had to rebuild the Ark. However, this time the Ark was not meant to save people from a global flood as Noah did 4,000 years ago, but to tell people that there is a God who loves us, and that He has a plan for our lives"

I cannot tell you how impressive it was to see that Noah built all of this, without the modern tools we have now. And even now, it took the builders 4 years to construct this replica. It is 30 metres wide (98 ft and 5 something inches), 23 metres high (75 feet and 5 something inches), and 135 metres long (442 ft 10 inches)! It has really shown me once again how great God is, and how lucky I am to know Him in my life.

If you're ever in the Netherlands, do visit! You can find more information on www.arcofnoah.org or www.arkvannoach.com.

Ahhh how time flies! This week is the last week of my holiday already! I've spent lots and lots of time hanging around in my backyard and just soaking up the sun, love it! I haven't been up to much else to be real honest. When you're a wife, mom, employee (and as of September student too!) it's kinda nice to do absolutely nothing from time to time. Don't y'all agree?

Well, I'm off to doing nothing again, have a nice day! :)

OOTD: Perfect match

Yes, back again! How have you all been? It's been too long, I've missed this! Only two more days of work before I can sit and enjoy for three weeks, can't wait. Hope all of you are enjoying your (well deserved!) summer holiday too. To start off my " it's almost summer holiday " celebration, here is an outfit I wore last Sunday. I absolutely love this peplum skirt, it has been in my closet for a while but I didn't have a chance to wear it yet, I was looking for the perfect shoes to go with this. When I found these gorgeous shoes on the H&M website I just had to have them and immediately thought of this skirt as a perfect match.

OOTD: Sheer madness..

First of all, so sorry for my irregular posting, I usually try to post 3 times a week, hopefully I'll be able to do that again after my summer holiday has started. Still 3 weeks to go!! Since work has been so busy lately, I try to enjoy my weekends as much as I can. Here are some shots of what I wore yesterday, before we went to a birthday and barbeque. I am absolutely in love with this skirt! It suddenly sold out really fast in the Asos curve range but for the "smaller" plus size ladies among us, this skirt is still available in the main range section, in black and in pink and on sale too!

Enjoy your Sunday loves,

It's been a while since my last post, sorry for that. It has been really busy at work lately. As I mentioned before, I work at the administration office of a University and the end of the school year is near so that means a lot of things to do so we can round up the year. Anywho, this weekend I did much relaxing and finally had time to shoot some pics. I really like how a blazer can give an outfit a whole different look, cause I'm actually wearing a simple "T-shirt and jeans" combi. Add a blazer and some cute pumps and voila! You got yourself a cute look! What do you guys think?

OOTD: Pretty Pastels

Remember the look on my face and me saying how happy I was with the weather? Well, forget that because this month (my beloved June!) has been dreadfull!! Rain, rain, rain and a few rays of sun at the end of each day. I was sick of it and decided not to let the weather influence my choice of clothing, that's why I chose a fresh combination of pretty pastels (and since these photo's were made at the end of the day, the sun was shining! ;-)). To me, these two colors together still give me the feeling that it is indeed spring, moving on to summer soon. Can't wait and hope it will be better!

Boohoo! As I'm writing this, our country has lost it's first football match (against Denmark, 0-1) in the European Championships. While I'm not a big sports fan, I still hoped we would win. Well, we still have 2 matches to go in the group stage, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will get better next Wednesday. Anywho, these outfit pictures were made yesterday and as you can see my hair was going everywhere! It was so windy that at times I could barely keep all the hair out of my face, lol.

OOTD: Birthday girl

Happy Birthday to me, haha. Yesterday was my 26th birthday, pff, 26 already! Time flies! Each year it get's harder to look at my parents and realize they have such grown up kids. They still look so young! I hope to look just as good by the time Jaelynn (and maybe my future kids) reaches the same age. I did have to work yesterday and I decided to wear my yellow "brush stroke print" dress from Asos Curve. It has been in my closet for quite a while, but I didn't have the chance to wear it yet, until yesterday. I've gotten so many positive responses to this dress!

Usually I celebrate my birthday each year but this year I decided not to do it, with the European Football Championships coming up (starting this Friday), I'll pass up this year. I thank the Lord for keeping me safe and healthy this past year and look forward to a new fabulous year!

Yes! June is here! My favorite month of the year (my birthday is in June, and my husband's too) and the official month of summer. The only downside is my terrible, terrible hay fever. I've had it since I was about eleven and it seems to get worse every year. It doesn't stop with sneezing and itching eyes, no, I even get asthmatic during the hay fever season. Boohoo! Well, I'm trying not to make it spoil my fun.

OOTD: Floral jumpsuit

I'm glad i still had some "back up pics" to show you since my face is a hot mess thanks to hay fever, ugh! We took these pictures last Friday, after work. Can you believe that this small beach only is a 5 minute walk away from my house?! With weather like this, such a place really makes you feel you're on a holiday. Since it was quite windy at the beach I made pictures with and without my jacket, I assure you, I'm not dying of heat just for the love of fashion (catching a cold, maybe.. ^_^). This jumpsuit from Asos Curve is a "golden oldie", but still a fave. The fabric is not too thick, it stretches and the floral print always makes me happy.

Well, I'm off to find some tissues, sniff sniff, happy Wednesday!

OOTD: Ladies Night

I don't know how it is at cinema's in other countries but here we have Ladies Night each month. On Ladies Night, the cinema is filled with stands and vendors displaying new beauty products or selling clothes/bags/jewelry, you get a 'welcome cocktail' and when you get to your seat, a goodie bag and a snack will be waiting for you. So much fun to do with your friends! Last Wednesday they showed "What to expect when you're expecting" (officially came out on May 24th in the Netherlands), what a great movie! Me and a couple of ladies went and we had so much fun.

Since the weather is still lovely, I decided to wear my beloved Asos curve shorts and sheer chiffon back top. I bought the top just recently, it was on sale for only $15! Couldn't let it just sit there.
