Fall Perfection

I love to match, I'm a sucker for a nice suit. When I saw this one coming along, I instantly felt Fall vibes. Of course, this suit would look great in any season, but the color combination is just perfect for now.

Blushing

This dress combines so many elements I love: a wrap model, the nice blush color and a split to put some leg action in there. Other great detail: I got it 50% off! For some reason, sales always make items even prettier in my eyes (I guess that's the whole thought behind throwing sales but okayyy). I figured this dress would be a great one to end the summer season with, while we all make way for fall styles to enter (or resurface) our wardrobe.

Work mode

My holiday flew by like it was nothing. I'm the type of person that plans loads of stuff in her head but then in the end only does half of it because time went by so fast. For some reason, summer was in hiding during my time off, and just as I started to get back to work it came back. Isn't that great... Anyhoo, I think every woman is always preparing for a new season by collecting a few cute outfits and since I had no chance of wearing this dress during my time off, I went ahead and rocked this baby to work :)

Third time's a charm

When I tell you that once something is in my head, it's in my head. As was the case with this lovely jumpsuit. I wanted it so bad but it kept selling out in my size. I opted for a smaller size (what was I thinking right), and later that same day my actual size was back in stock. So in one take, I had two of the same pieces on their way to me. When they finally arrived, I tried my own size first. The sizing was waaaay off, it was so small. But like I said, once it's in my head, it's in my head. I tried one last time and sized up two sizes. Third time's a charm, this time it was perfect. The things we do for something pretty right? Have you ever had to order something more than twice to get it right?

Holiday!

Finally! My summer holiday has officially started. It's nice to be able to take a break from everyday life and routines. Hopefully the sun will show herself some more. For now, it's a typical Dutch summer, which means no guarantees. It might be great one day, and terrible the day after. This week we had a few good days so I did not waste any time pulling this cute playsuit out of my closet. I love the combo of the print and the crochet trim. It gives me a festival kind of feeling.

Chapter 31

Edit: This post has been sitting here since my birthday (June 5). I forgot to actually publish it. Figures. :)

And just like that, another year has come and gone.
When it comes to me, I have had to come to terms with a lot of things. One in particular, is how demanding I am towards myself. I have really high standards and I push myself too much because of it. This is not something new to me, but accepting that I can't always be on top of my game definitely is. Take this blog for example. It will always remain a hobby of mine, but sometimes I did pressure myself. I needed to perform well at work, be a good wife and mother, and make sure to post at least three times a week. That last part did not always work out, and I used to beat myself up about it. And the worst thing, who really asked me to? *Quietly raises one hand* Me. Why? Does it make me a better person? Sometimes the biggest obstacle in life can be you and your stubborn way of thinking. It can actually limit you from being genuinely happy.

Leg Day

It's a no-brainer that spring calls for florals. And maxi-dresses. And thigh high splits that give me LIFE! There's this thing about splits that makes me want to throw my legs out. A little leg action never hurt nobody right? These are the leg days I like ;)

Enjoy your week,
xoxo

Flower in the wind

This Dutch weather can't seem to make up his mind. Sunny and warm, to cold and windy. However, I was determined to brighten up the day by submerging myself in flowers completely. I found this skirt and later I stumbled upon this floral mesh bodysuit and immediately I knew I wanted to pair them together. It's giving the illusion of a dress but the separate pieces are not even the same brand, that's what I like :)

The wind had no chill by the way so my hair is all over the place in most of the pics but hey, I'm a flower in the wind 😉

Flirty Spring

Ahhh, I'm loving these off the shoulder styles. It's cute, and flirty. And yes, I have stretch marks there too and they're not shy to come out and play!

When I came across this shirt, I loved that it looked like I took one of my husband's shirts and just cut the collar off (and made flute sleeves out of them). I'm still contemplating if I should rock this one to work 😁  I want to so baddd...
Style note: Because of my larger cup size, I actually sized up on the shirt to avoid the buttons not being able to close around my bust area. Looking at it now, I probably could have done with my regular size.

Circle of style

Nothing screams more spring than the color yellow. It represents brightness, rays of sun, the color of many flowers that are rising up again. Add ruffles and lace to the mix and you're all set!

I've come to a point in my life that certain styles I used to wear as a teenager are coming back again. Does that make me old? They were in style waaaay before I was around, but trends are revolving in a continuous cycle. As a teen, I remember being crazy about one shoulder tops and dresses, ruffles and fishnet tights under my jeans. If I'm not mistaken, this was all about 15,16 years ago (wait what, I was a teen 15 years ago???!). Does that mean that the next time these trends will be back, I'll be 45? Maybe. Maybe not. :)

And that's how everything revolves (imagine the Lion King title song) "in the Circle of Styleeee".

Contrasted

Everyone knows I've got a weakness for matching sets and suits. Even though this outfit is not really a suit, the pants immediately drew my attention and when I saw there was a similar trench coat that matched I just decided I would make it a suit. I love small details and additions that make a piece of clothing a little more special. It doesn't always have to be something fancy but just by adding some touches of black the items look much more interesting. I have mentioned before that I am a really big fan of ELVI, it's like they just know exactly what I like. The pieces are always of great quality and never disappoint. They really know how to bring classy, timeless, pieces.

SUPER woman

As women I think we all possess special abilities, whether you're already a mom, spouse, or just a woman or girl, girl power is real y'all. For myself, as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, blogger, employee and many more things, juggling with all these roles can be a hassle every now and then. That's why sometimes, you just need a little cape to remind you your super woman, haha. And if it can be incorporated in a pretty dress, even better. Once again landing you two other titles: sexy and heroic ;)

Make sure to remind yourself every now and then that every thing you do is SUPER!

Jacked up

A nice jacket or coat can do a lot for an otherwise very basic outfit. Even though this look is still very casual, the jacket adds just that little more extra.

Happy New Hair!

*in my rapping voice*
It's been a long time, I shouldn't have left you... Without a few posts to go through... :)

Honestly, the past few weeks have been dreadful. I was super busy at work (since I'm not a full time blogger and I have bills to pay), I had a cold and flu that I couldn't seem to shake, and now, just as I was getting better, my cold decided to come back. But of course, I did not want to stay away forever! I have missed all of this! A positive development through all of this is something totally random but something I'm so excited about: if you have been paying attention, I've been trying to grow my hair out since around September last year. I have been completely dependant on my flat iron for over a decade and I landed in this vicious cycle where I wanted to have my natural curls back, but couldn't since my curl pattern was so sloppy and all over the place that I decided to straighten it again. This time I decided I was so done with all the heat damage and I have not straightened my hair for over 3 months. Even though my hair is no way near where it eventually needs to be, I already like the direction it's heading towards, as much has improved. And if you follow me on Instagram stories or Snapchat, you may have seen that last week, I took the step of getting my first ever Deva cut. It did mean I had to give up some of my length but it was dead and damaged hair anyways. Instantly after the cut my curls were already taking more shape and I can't wait to see what it will look like in 6 months time. Luckily my blog is also some sort of diary I can use to look back what it used to look like in order to track my progress. The only regret I have right now is not taking this step years ago. Well, can't make up for lost times I guess. To the ladies that are considering the same thing, DO IT! Don't wait!

Now, although I was writing about my hair, I haven't forgotten that this is a fashion blog first, so naturally, I'm throwing in an outfit as well ;)
