2011 Recap

And here it is, the last day of 2011... It has gone by so fast! 2011 was a great year for me, and lots of exciting things have happened, with me becoming a mom for the first time as the most beautiful happening of this year. I can only hope and pray that next year will be at least as good as this year.

I am so grateful for everything God has given me.

To all of you, a Happy New Year, may all of your dreams and wishes come true.

God bless and see you in 2012!

Cocktail time!!!

I had the best 'team outing' yesterday. My colleagues and I had a really good time. We started out with a djembé workshop which was hilarious, and after that a cocktailworkshop. We ended with a nice dinner. Below some pictures to give you guys an impression of my day!

Sparklefest!

If there's one thing I can't resist, it's sparkly things. Glitters, sequins, diamonds, you name it. With the holidays coming up in a few months, the shops are beginning to launch their holiday/party collections. That's great and all, but I personally believe that you don't need a holiday or party to shine! I can wear sparkles every day! Just to add a little pop to your outfit. Below a list of some of my favorite sparkly items that (to me) are really an addition to your everyday/party outfit collection.

#1. Asos Revive Gold sequin mini skirt
#2. Asos Curve sequin sleeve blazer
#3. Giuseppe Zanotti glitter ankle boots (old collection and completely sold out, but Topshop is selling great look a likes!)
#4. Asos sequin mini skirt in Aztec print
#5. Dorothy Perkins champagne sequin jacket
#6. Dorothy Perkins silver shine wrapp dress

If you've found some beautiful sparkly things, do share! Leave me a link below.

Have a great weekend loves,

(Wo)man about the house..

My house is a big old mess right now. We bought a new kitchen and demolished our old one. The new kitchen arrived on Friday and we are working hard to put it together (why didn't I pay someone to do it for us??SMH).

Colored pants part 2

Ever since I bought my green pants at Dorothy Perkins, I just can't get enought of colored pants. I now own a green, hot pink, purple, baby pink and an orange pair. And the orange one is great for fall too!
Still on my wish list: a red (skinnies) and a mustard yellow pair. How about you? Are you planning on wearing colored pants this fall/winter?

Enjoyed the last rays of sun

Top - H&M// Trousers - Evans// Leopard clutch - Ebay// Necklace - Mi Moneda

What beautiful last days we had. Although summer is officially over, last weekend's weather was delightful. We haven't had the greatest summer, so I was very pleased that the sun decided to come out these past few days. Now that it's really over, I'm welcoming fall. Please don't be too hard on us...

I decided to post a few outfit shots since I haven't done that in a while. The first outfit is also my entry for the 'bloggers do animal print better' challenge. Have you entered already?

Hope you enjoyed (or still are enjoying) the last rays of sun, wherever you are..

Proopticals

glasses - Proopticals// Scarf - H&M

Did I ever mention I (am supposed to) wear prescription glasses? Well, I do. So lucky me when the lovely people at Proopticals contacted me to try on their glasses.

Proopticals is an online supplier of prescription glasses and frames. You can choose a frame you like and order or order the frame including lenses. Now I know some people may have second thoughts on ordering their glasses online, but no worries! Their website has a virtual try on! You can upload your own picture and try on the frames, super handy.

I'm very satisfied with the pair they sent me. They are not too heavy, the fit is great and the material is nice too. They were nicely packed and the shipping was really fast.

There are a lot of models to choose from, below some of my favorites:

(as you can see, I'm sort of in love with the 'oversized' geek glasses look)

So, if you're looking for something different at great prices, I'd suggest you check them out!

Have a lovely Monday,

On it's way to me..

The minute I saw it, I had to have it. Zara had one just like it a while ago, but I was too late. I just placed my order, so hope it will get here soon!

Sorry for my lack of posts these past 2 weeks, I still need to adjust to 'work mode' again. I guess I never mentioned that I work at the administration office of a university and now is the busiest time of the year! New students coming and students graduating. I've been coming home and going straight to bed the past few days, but today is my day off so I finally have time to rest and blog again.

For all students starting school again: good luck this semester/year!

As you  can see, I'm back to wearing my Mi Moneda necklace, I just couldn't leave it behind a day longer. And I can't seem to part with my shoes either, they're the best!

OOTD: Colored pants

I welcome summer back again!! Well, not completely 'cause as I'm writing this, it's already raining again. But... I have high hopes for this week! It will be better. It has to, I will be back to work again in two weeks, after having stayed at home with my little girl for 5 months! So I want my 'last days' to be sunny and bright so I can enjoy them to the fullest.  I hope you guys are all enjoying your summer (holiday)!

Anyway, to the outfit, I could finally part with my Mi Moneda necklace, which I wear a lot, so I thought I'd give it a break (once!). And don't you just love colored pants? I know I do... I also added an extra shot of my 'arm candy' for the Bloggers Do It Better Arm Party Challenge. Are you also participating?

Fashizblack magazine

Introducing Fashizblack, an online fashion magazine based in France and created by three entrepreneurs. The idea for their magazine was born because they couldn't identify themselves with the magazines already out there; western magazines didn't focus on diversity, while afro magazines missed the global essence.

Since launching their magazine three years ago, it has been very succesful and even became France's #1 online fashion magazine! Although the title may lead to believe the magazine is meant for 'black people' ONLY (it is however dedicated to the black community), they most of all want to be global and cater to everyone, regardless of skin color AND sex.

With everything going so well, creating a first glossy print issue was the next step. They're planning to launch this first issue in January 2012, but they need our help. Since funding an independent fashion magazine is not cheap, they started a campaign to raise the needed funds. Please click HERE for more information about their kickstarter campaign and how you can contribute.

The magazine covers everything; fashion, beauty and also culture. I believe this magazine would truly be an addition to the 'Mag-O-sphere', and it should not go to waste. So, check out their website and see how you can help out!

Party in Rotterdam!

Every year, on the last Saturday of July, the Caribbean are brought to Rotterdam. A beautiful parade of people, of all ages, shapes, sizes and color, wearing the most colorful outfits while dancing and celebrating. That is 'Zomercarnaval' or roughly translated, 'Summer Carnival'. It's actually the same kind of carnival as in the Caribbean, but since their carnival is in wintertime (around February) and it's still cold out here, we have it in the summer.

I love the wide range of people involved in these festivities, it's shows that no matter where you come from, we can all have a good time together. Many cultures are represented and there is sooo many food and music of all kinds. Definitely a must see if you live in Holland!

The party starts a day before the carnival, with the 'battle of the drums'.
I managed to shoot a quick video of a drumband on the night before the carnival. Check it out!

Have a great day!
